"Thank Me for the very things that are troubling you. You are on the brink of rebellion, precariously close to shaking your fist in My face. You are tempted to indulge in just a little complaining about My treatment of you. And once you step over that line, torrents of rage and self-pity can sweep you away.

Self-pity.
Anytime I have ever called out to God,
and failed to feel His immediate peace,
I'd become angry and frustrated,
and conclude it was because prayers
aren't always immediate.
God was planning for my answer
to come soon.
Soon...
But tonight I realized,
all of those times,
I was trapped in self-pity.
God knows me.
He knows I know better.
I know I know better.
My fan is on in my room.
I heard wind chimes.
I looked over towards my door and saw
two strings hanging on the wall.
One string held a key.
And the other held a metal cross.
The cross says "Christ Has Chosen You".
He's right.
Out of all the people in the world,
He chose ME to fill a specific and divine purpose.
Unique and unlike anyone else's in this world.
Who am I to question Him?
I gave Him my life,
That doesn't mean I gave Him part of me
to do things with that I consider "good".
And then weed out all of the bad parts
to then avoid and complain about.
I gave Him all of me.
Then I heard His voice.
God said,
"Child,
get up.
My purpose for you is so much more
than the heartache you feel now."

The best protection against this indulgence is thanksgiving. It is impossible to thank Me and curse Me at the same time. Thanking me for trials will feel awkward and contrived at first. But if you persist, your thankful words, prayed in faith, will eventually make a difference in your heart. Thankfulness awakens you to My Presence, which overshadows all your problems." - Jesus Calling, Sarah Young.
