Pride is something
more evident in our lives
than we realize.
Being proud of your son
for making the winning shot
just before the buzzer.
Being proud of your senior class
volleyball team for making it to state.
Being proud of yourself.
But what about pride?
What about when it hinders us
from experiencing something
greater than ourselves?
Some people insist on
doing everything themselves.
They run and jump over endless hurdles.
Then their bodies grow weary.
And they fall.
They only blame themselves.
They pick themselves up and start again.
But what about the track on the opposite
side, that has hurdles more manageable.
The hurdles that will teach you greater things
than you've learned from this set.
Greater things than you could ever imagine.
Who, in their right mind,
would give up control of their life
and trust another being
with their goal of a lifetime of happiness?
It's a difficult concept to swallow.
Instead we focus our minds
on the "power of the people".
We are self-reliant,
self-motivated
and
self-efficient.
But what our human selves
are focusing on
is that of which we can only see.
What about what we can't see?
What about the things not of this world?
There's more to life than what we see.
