ali's Corner. [Meadows and Metaphors]

Metaphors of God
lie all around us.
Look around.

Last week,
I watched the sunrise.

Beginning at the farmhouse
that sits in a large field
in the back of our house,
was a strip of fog.

The way the sunlight hit,
revealed its stretch to
the opposite side of the treeline.

Given that I was looking
out a second story window,
I could see both the length
and the height of the fog.

I wondered if this was how
God views our struggles.

Placing ourselves
at the farmhouse,
in the midst of the fog,
that is all we see.

Fog.
Uncertainty.
Fear.

We cannot see the end.
We cannot see outside of our
own little world.

But God can.
He's sitting and peering out
a window much higher than
two stories.

He knows the end.
He knows that if we would just look up,
that we would see His light.

By faith and trust,
we can begin walking in confidence.
Even though we are blind to the upcoming light,
we know that God has a purpose.
No struggle God allows us to walk
goes unblessed.

God sees this struggle as a time line.
It's just one field.
It's only one patch of fog.

There will be others.
But there is hope.
And there will be light
in the darkness.
