ali's Corner. [I Love You, Buts]

"I love you, buts"

No, kids
i'm not talking about
a pair of cheeks uttering the words
"I love you",
rather,
i'm talking about the word LOVE
in general.

in the past
i've heard so many people say the words
"i love him... BUT"
or "i love you...BUT..."
and then finish the statement
with something that's
"wrong" with them or something
they need to change.

to me,
i don't understand.

Are we saying that we
are only capable of "loving"
perfect people?

to me,
love is unconditional.

it's not something you can break up
and only hand certain parts
out to the qualities you find
attractive.
you're either all in
or all out.
Love cannot be
belittled.

Love is
--> Love.

it is great
and nothing less.

I'd like to say
that i've been
in love before.
but honestly
I feel that it's a little childish to say.

i've loved.
with the deepest parts of my heart.
my mind, body and soul
were all in.
100%
completely
in love.
But then I got hurt.
I saw that person in a different light.
it wasn't as bright as it used to be.
and I stopped loving them.
Given the definition of the word love.
Meaning: unconditional.
Is this even possible?
to STOP LOVING
someone?
My thoughts are that
if we've declared that we've
"stopped" loving someone,
that maybe we didn't really
"love" them in the first place?

My mind is at a loss for comprehension.

This question is NOT rhetorical.
