ali's Corner. [She's A Quiet One]

she reaches out
and grabs a hurting hand.
pulling them to safety.
can i get you anything?

her hand grasps the cold air
and uses the frozen metal beams
to pull herself up.

this is her secret.
she's learned happiness
doesn't lie within others
but within herself.

When this girl feels alone
she writes to God.
Sometimes he writes back
other times, that is her answer.
She has the faith of a moving mountain.

But her introverted ways
can cause such miscommunications.

She feels that when she screams,
nothing hears her but the cloudness sky.

mother's worried at home.
she's far from arriving.
but knows that her family is
what keeps her here.
she'll say
"momma and daddy, i won't be home for a while."
and they respond,
"where are you going? we're coming with you."

Sitting at the coffee shop
with the empty chair in front of her.
She's a decoration.
Something to look at and wonder.
Never to question.
People walk by and sit real close,
but never ask.
no one ever meets her there.

She's sits there, quietly
but her insides are melting out
on the paper in front of her.

an infant
crying for attention
but all anyone sees is the
little hands that hide
such a salty storm.
